This Is Knoxville
CEC’s East Tennessee Operations began in 2014 with the acquisition of a well-established 15-person surveying & civil engineering firm. After the acquisition, our services were quickly expanded to include structural engineering, environmental engineering, ecological sciences, and water resource engineering capabilities. We also built on the existing strong relationships in the real estate and hospitality markets and expanded into public sector, manufacturing, and mining sectors.
Today, we have over 70 staff members across our Knoxville, Sevierville, and Tri-Cities locations. We are lucky enough to live in East Tennessee, and we are honored to serve the best interests of the place we call home.

CEC Knoxville has held on to the “small firm” culture from its roots. At the same time, the Knoxville area is rapidly growing and CEC Knoxville intends to grow with it. We encourage entrepreneurial thinking and professional development, and we support the development of new ideas. Plus, we enjoy social events such as the Winter Office Olympics, Tennessee Smokies baseball games, UT football games, brewery evenings, and more. We’re the only office (that we know of) with a house band: Humble Bob and the Engineers!
CEC Knoxville regularly gives back to the community. We support many local nonprofits, including the Second Harvest Food Bank, the New Hope—Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center, and Eagle Scouts. In addition, our employees participate in the UT Engineering Department’s co-op education program and serve as technical advisors and guest lecturers.
